Three Charities Unite to Provide Nutritious Meals for Women's Refuge Families this Christmas
This Christmas, KiwiHarvest, Everybody Eats, and Women's Refuge have joined forces for Cooking for a Cause, a campaign delivering family-sized meals to those in crisis. Corporate teams are invited to participate in hands-on cooking classes, learning zero-waste techniques and preparing meals from rescued food, which will be gifted to Women's Refuge families.
Corporate Teams: Your Role is Critical
From November 22 to December 13, corporate teams will cook alongside chefs from Everybody Eats, using surplus food rescued by KiwiHarvest. "Corporate teams are vital to this initiative," says Susan Parkinson, Partnerships and Marketing Manager at Everybody Eats. "Without their involvement, we can't meet the demand for these meals."
How Cooking for a Cause Works:
KiwiHarvest rescues surplus food.
Everybody Eats transforms it into nutritious meals.
Corporate teams help prepare the meals.
Women's Refuge families receive these meals during the holiday season.
Supporting Families in Need
For families under Women's Refuge care, the holidays are especially challenging. Last Christmas, nearly 5,000 individuals were supported, and that number is expected to rise this year. "It's about more than just meals; it's about providing comfort and security," says Linda Thompson, Manager at Women's Refuge Tamaki Makaurau.
Collaboration at Its Best
This partnership turns surplus into support. Corporate teams, chefs, and rescued food come together to make a real difference for families in need this Christmas. "By working together, we create something much bigger," says Anne-Marie Friis, Head of Fundraising & Marketing at KiwiHarvest
