Family violence can occur in any home regardless of culture, ethnicity or income. Victims may be in same-sex relationships, takatapui, transgender, non-binary. No one deserves to be abused and family violence is never ok.
Advocacy Services
When you become a Women's Refuge Tāmaki Makaurau client you will be allocated a dedicated Advocate who will listen to you and help you achieve your goals. This may be a plan for leaving your violent relationship safely, or a plan for staying safe while you remain in your relationship. All advocacy services provided are free and confidential.
Safe Housing
Women's Refuge Tāmaki Makaurau safe housing is available for wahine who are unsafe to remain in their own homes. It is a warm, comfortable home where you and your tamariki will be safe.
Whanau Protect
Safety Alarms and Home Security Upgrades
The National Home Safety Service - Whanau Protect is available in most locations around Aotearoa to victims of family violence who are at high risk of repeat harm that is likely to cause serious physical injusry or death. The service is delivered alongside our existing support services.

further victimisation
threatening behaviour
WHAT WHANAU PROTECT CAN DO:
Install a monitored security alarm (for up to six months)
Send a NZ Police patrol when the alarm is activated.
Make home safety improvements to help you and your tamariki continue to live safely in your own home.
Cases are looked at individually and decisions are based on the future risk of serious harm.
